I own a motel (bought a year ago) and have a buildling with 4 rooms. When a guest flushes the toilet water comes up in the tub. I tried to put a 25 auger down the drains it didnt help. Then I looked for clean outs, there are none.
I have access under the building to add cleanouts or can I add cleanouts to the vent pipes. (there are 2 vents pipes). I was thinking of doing the vent pipes so I dont have to crawl under the building and I dont have to go under the building to add and will have better access in the future. I can cover the opening in the walls with plywood and apply with screws. It is all copper piping so would I use PVC or ABS piping Y's, etc.
Any thoughts?
Hi Lee, Your best bet would be to have a professional plumber come in and scope the drains for all of the units. They can pull a toilet to get access and even provide a video of the experience for you.
They will also have the right tools and equipment to clear any kind of drain issues for you. The drains are probably done properly and only needs some maintenance so you won't need to open up any walls or ceilings.
In a commercial establishment, the last thing you want is to have to shut down because you didn't check and fix everything.
You can put your requirements in the "post your projects" section and get some local plumbers to reply.
Good Luck with it!
