Good evening, thank you for your time. This is the long and short of it. My wife and I live in Massachusetts and recently purchased land in the country. The old farm house on the property is not worth renovating. However, there is an old chicken coop / barn / garage on site that is in great shape. It is constructed with cinderblock wall and poured cement floors. It seems well built and with an asphalt shingled roof, Question, Can something like this feasibly be converted into living space (tiny house) ? thanks again
hi,
That is a good idea to converting your garage to living area, but you have to know that the slab floor and cinderblocks should be insulated,
For concrete slab it's better you use sleepers and rigid foam insulation. And walls as well, but you von use batt insulation and vapor barrier as well.
Have good day
I don't think you are going to be happy with the floor. As the other person has said you need insulation and with our winters it's the reason we have basements built below the frost line. You could go with a radiant floor heat system.
