Hi Janet,

It would be best to attach a photo to describe what you are trying to achieve.

In regards to the 1" inch gap between the framing and wall that is needed for air-flow around the perimeter wall.

Tyvek/typar (house rap) is required only if insulation batts will contact the basement wall (replaces tar paper)Your 1" gap is there so walls will get framed straight,and batts won't touch the concrete, nothing to do with air circulation, that's what insulation is there to stop if you think about it, in this case the gap is fine.

The vapor barrier needs to be sealed to the floor above which can be difficult.

These days most people use 2" blue or pink SM glued to the wall 2X4 framing in front and fiberglass batt insulation to meet code and drywall on top (Important!!! no vapor barrier, the SM is the barrier)

Costs more but makes a smell free basement for life.

Remove anything on the wall if you use ridged foam.
