My name is Suhair, I am thinking of executing a separate entrance to my finished basement either from the garage or the backyard. The garage is covered with drywall. My garage's level is lower than the house by 2 or 3 feet. Which option is better to go with? And which one would cost less? Around how much wold be the cost for making an entrance through the garage or from the backyard? Your advice is truly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time.

An exit directly to the outside backyard would be the safer way to go, and there are so many variables in pricing your job. Having a contractor come over to discuss your choices is always a better option than ball-parking it here.

Hi Suhair,

I'm not sure that entrance from the garage would be cheaper, excavation needs to be done manually and if you don't have entrance door to the garage that needs to be added, but one needs see it before before any quote can be given.
