I am looking to get quotes on the design step of three large projects about to be undertaken by our organization. We have 87 townhouses and a small apartment building with 30 units.
The three projects are fencing, kitchen renovations, and bathroom and powder room renovations. There are multiple styles of units, in both the townhouses and the apartment building.
We are looking to have an architect/design firm quote us on the cost of preparing the designs to each specific unit type, essentially preparing for us getting accurate quotes to have the work completed.
What is the best way to go about this? What information should be provided to get an accurate quote on the design/planning step?
Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Sean
Hi Sean,
I believe you would need more of an architectural/design firm for this undertaking. Whom ever you hire will take the designs and measurements of the different layouts with type of materials you are upgrading too. From this the take-offs for quoting can be done from this.
Kind Regards,
Scott Lawson
Hi Sean,
I would be agreeing with Scott . hire a draftsman design company who will in turn use engineer to stamp . Will work out cheaper considering hourly rate etc. Please also be aware of extra charges for site visits etc.

Rory
Hello Sean,
What you require is an Architectural/Design or Drafting company for this job. Ask to view past drawings and drafts they have made recently. Would also recommend going with the company which will not only handle the design part but the permit approval part as well. The measurements for the different existing Kitchen/Bathroom Designs as well the Remodeled Designs and site surveying will be required. For accurate quotation on the fence material and labor, Land surveying for elevations should be considered. A capped time frame for hours needed to complete and price should be provided for the project.
Thanks
Hello Sean,
I recommend you save quite a bit of expense by engaging with a design builder who can work out a design details and a unit pricing arrangement with you.
No need for a lot of work detailing each fence, kitchen and bathroom.
There is little value in too much detail.

Andrew Parker
