Hey guys,
I am in need of some expertise in quote giving. I am doing a big project that involves painting the hallways of 5 apartment building that are 4 stories each including the stairwells. The square footage of everything is 82,069 and I want to go a dollar a foot and he needs two coats so would I just double the square footage to 164,138 and it costing that much? The paint is also included. It seems really high to me and I really need this job and don't want to mess this up.
Could I please get an opinion, thanks.
Don't think you should go by sq ft.
A large project like that would have to be priced in a different way to be competive.
Likely calculate your bid as follows:
Materials + Labour + 10% contingency then mark that up to cover overhead and profit.
Typically painters want 30% min for O & P so divide yours costs by 0.7 which gives you the sell price.
By using sq footage you might price yourself out of the job.
Second coats are actually 75% of first coats. So take 80069 X .75 and that's second coats.
