There is a small ceiling stain due to leakage which happened recently(i.e like a week ago). I was told that a wet floor is the cause of this. Sometimes the bathroom floor is wet but not too bad and there is a wet mat covered daily. I was wondering, can this be a cause for a ceiling stain of water or is it due to something else? Does it seem like the grouts are an issue?

Hi Joshua,
Water stain on the ceiling could be due to many reasons. It's recommended to make a small opening where the stain is and find out the source. It could be a small issue but if ignored could create a big damage to drywall, insulation or framing... in other cases it could be toilet water which could be a health risk.
Good luck
Hi Joshua,
Like the previous answer a stain in the ceiling can come from many sources reasons.
The common mistakes I find from contractors is the silicone joint is missing where there is tile corners or the joint of wall to tile.
In those corners, the movement or the flexibility make the grout crack from the edge of tiles, which sometime hard to see or not visible causing micro opening which result to a slow leak, those are the worst damaged you can get because it takes longer to detect and water can travel pretty far.
The right way to ensure that is the cause it would be putting water on the floor and check if it gets wet in the ceiling or under the floor where the water is.
If this is the cause of the ceiling stain the repair would be to grind the grout out, regroup it and applying silicone in corners
Hi Joshua, In some reason I couldn't open your pictures. Anyway, I have had the same problem in my bathroom before. And I can say, the wet floor it not a cause of stain on the ceiling. You have to find the leakage and fix it. Then remove your popcorn and repaint the ceiling again. This is what I've done in my bathroom. Now it looks great. Thank you. Regards, Mike Redjepov
Hi mike, to clarify, I was told a wet bathroom floor caused the ceiling underneath to get a stain. However, the bathroom is not directly under the ceiling and the ceiling underneath the bathroom is totally fine.
