I was wondering if it was possible to paint a bare concrete floor. We recently had to remove the linoleum covering our basement laundry room due to mold and we are looking at different options on what to do with the current floor. If it can be painted, does it need to be treated or prepped before hand?
Thanks for your time.
Yes you can paint concrete of any kind if you'd like. There's a compound you should put down after cleaning it thoroughly just before you start painting, which you can get at any hardware store. The better option though is to do an epoxy flooring on it, which is rather cheap and you can even do it yourself if you want to save money. Home Depot has DIY epoxy kits which is way more comfortable than solely a paint. Going one step above that would be going for a higher end epoxy or having someone install it, very recommended.
Epoxy best but needs more skill and is toxic, there are some pretty good concrete primers, and paints out there too do same thing. Trick is prep, dry, clean concrete, moisture will ruin the paint if too much coming through concrete.
