The is water coming through the ceiling of one of my top floor rooms (under attic). There a several moisture stains on the ceiling and 2 areas where water is actually dripping from the ceiling (1 fairly large). I tried wiping the water off of the larger area and I could already see it coming back about 5min later. There is also brownish water running down one wall, which appears to be coming from the corner of the ceiling (corner of the house).
I've attached photos of the large dripping area and the brown drips on the wall.
What should I do about this? What type of contractor should I find to look at this? Is now the time to have it looked at or would spring be better?
Only looking for advice right now.
Sounds like the roof is leaking or gutters are backing up. Check it out, nothing can be done with the ceiling or walls until the leak is fixed. Drywall will have to be checked before repairs can be done also your insulation. Call a roofer.
You may want to contact a reputable property restoration firm in your area. They will have the ability to not only repair the problem which could be a roofing or ice damming issue, but will also be able to properly dry the effected areas of your home to prevent any possible mould growth due to the moisture. Mould will grow in as little as 3 days so I would urge you to act quickly. Also it may be covered under your home insurance and they, depending on your coverage, may be able to assist you to have things repaired and restored efficiently.
