I Have recently set up my own general contracting buisness and was wondering if any of you guys use the ccdc contracts and which one is a good choice for general contracting.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You don't have to use these Canadian construction documents committee.....
There is a lot of easier format you could use especially for a smaller jobs.
Great thanks Mike. Just don't want to leave myself open to any liability. Is there a website that has these other forms of contract?
Hello Paul,
We use the CCDC-2 form with slight variations (e.g. 0% interest), and ACA forms. The OCA website has other options, as well: http://www.oca.ca/contracts/contracts.php.
Most important is to manage expectations between you and your clients and subcontractors, with a very clear change order process that is strictly adhered to. Equally important are contracts with your trades, which is where the ACA forms are helpful.
All the best!
Thank you so much Laura, this is super helpful
