Can a ceiling fan be installed without its own wall switch? In other words, can the fan be tied in to the electrical wiring for a room's light fixtures?
Answer is no! Fan needs to be on its own switch.
Unfortunately it has to be connected to the wall switch.
Yes it can be installed on the same circuit as the existing light and switch. If you purchase a fan with a remote, you will be able to shut off the fan while the other lights are still off.

Yes, they generally come with a remote you can mount on the wall that controls both the fan and the light off of one circuit.
Yes. I can install a ceiling fan to an exsisting lighting out let, the switch for that lighting outlet will be the switch for the ceiling fan.
Yes, you can. Usually the fan has a remote control or two in-build switches, if you have combination light and fan unit.Existing light switch on the wall that controls both the fan and the light off of one circuit.
Hi Ross,
Think of it as just swapping out a light fixture...same switch etc.
It doesn't require any higher voltage etc...just a straight forward swap.
I saw some fan wit light on it but by build code i think need be separate switch but if it old house and you no want wire again new line you can use the fan what comes wit light and use same switch to make you life easier
A ceiling fan does not need to be installed on a dedicated switch. More importantly though, it needs to be installed on a fan rated box with the proper supports.

Hello everybody! I am glad to attend this forum :). I didn't have the same problem as you, but I still want to share my experience on the same subject. I had air conditioning, which was just in excellent condition and worked at the highest level. Only there was one problem. He stopped cooling the room. It was protho painful, because the street was just crazy heat. It was urgent to repair it, but I do not trust any pseudo-masters. I believe in the proverb: "If you want to do something well, do it yourself." Therefore, I began to search for the necessary information on the Internet, which can help me fix my device. And I came across an article about Thermostat Wiring Colors. It helped me and I restored it. Try it, maybe this will help control your air conditioning)
