I need my fuse box changed and I think I have copper wiring would that have to all be changed
a fuse panel is a basic one day job, if you have copper wire, you don't need to change any of those as long as they are in good condition.
Call at least 3 contractors in your area and ask for quotes in writing with the exact products they are to supply you. Most should provide license, insurance, electrical inspection and minimum 12 month warranty up to 5 years. If they can't be bothered with a contract, don't bother hiring them, it is your home and investment. As for their contractors license before signing and giving any money.
Good luck
Your fuse panel & the type of wiring that you currently have in your house are two separate issues. You can change your fuse panel regardless of the type of wiring that you have in your house. Now, when you say that you have copper wiring in your house are you referring to knob & tube wiring or an older version of romex cable. If you have knob & tube wiring then I would recommend that you have it replaced as over time the insulation has deteriorated & becomes brittle.
Good point Gerry, also the non-grounded cables from the 50's-60's before the ground conductor was installed in the tar/paper wrapped cables.
Hi Susan,
Fuse panel could be changed without wiring changing. There are special designed panels for this.
