I want to close up an existing gas fireplace. Exterior of "chimney/flue" is cedar shingles (no brick) and will not be removed. We want to drywall the fireplace opening on the inside of the room and close up the exterior flue, but want to make sure there is no future moisture damage within the enclosure/cavity being left in place. We are installing a new direct vent fireplace in another location in the room. Do we need some sort of air vent on the INSIDE of the room or the OUTSIDE??? What's the proper way to do this??
Thank you
