I would like to change a small cold storage room to unfinished warm storage. How would I do this? Would changing the door to a louvered door provide enough air circulation? I estimate the space at about 500 cubic feet or less.
Install tyvek on the wall frame it and put in R20 insulation and if you don't want to use drywall use vapor barrier
Is the room under your front door landing? And do you have air vent access into the space?
If yes, you spray foam the vent space. Glue R-10 foam insulation to the cieling.
And then glue R-10 insulation on the walls. Tape all the seams with red plastic insulation tape. Then install a vent cover in the door for airflow. You will now have a warm storage area.
Regards,
James
Just meed insulate and vapor barrier and dry wall will be fine I need size of the room for property estimate
Measurement by inches or foot will be easier I did fell before and will be fine
The space definitely needs to be insulated by one form or another (see other replies).
If it was a true cold storage, there must have been a vent to the exterior. If there is not a window in the space you may want to use the vent hole as an opportunity to install an exhaust fan. Warm storage areas can often get "musty". The fan may not be used often but once in a while, it could help circulate air & discharge any odor.
Best of luck.....
