I have a basement where i want to insulate the floor. I plan on putting rigid foam insulation on the floor and closing the seam where it meets the drywall on the wall. I believe that can be done with tuck tape, but can this tape be mudded over for when i want the drywall to be ready for paint ?
Tuck tape will eventually crack the drywall mud and paint over time.
If you are installing baseboards then it will work fine.
You can tape the seam to your flat 2 x4 stud that makes up the base of your walls, but it should not be in any way attached to your drywall as you should leave approximately 1/2 gap between the drywall/gyprock and your floor. This is done so that in the event of any water issues, your drywall in theory' does not absorb surface water. Mind you, if you get seriously flooded, all bets are off, but you should still tape to the studs. Also, if you try to tape the drywall, you can get cracking. You want to establish the thermographic barrier, which you can test once you have your foam boards installed.
Good luck.
you never use plaster over anything put drywall and drywall mesh or tape...use mesh anything else will crack..if you want to seal a cement floor put poly first taped down then the insulation and it need not be sealed then
