All should be. If you have reasonable doubts ask for certificates. Liability/Clearance.. liability should be minimum 2million.

Many are not. Insurance should include liability for 2-5M in case they burn down your house while working on it. Also WCB insurance in case their apprentice breaks his back on your site. That way WCB will take care of him for life and not you.

Hi,

Im sorry to say, not all contractors are insured.

If you choose one that is not refered from a person or site you trust. Then ask them for proof of insurance.

Its very simple to pull up proof on a phone or tablet.

James Fram

Hi

All reputed contractors carry Liability and WSIB insurance. When hiring you are supposed to check all these instead checking JUST Pricing.

1) Check Insurance, WSIB.

2) Any trades working in house for GAS or electrical or Plumbing they should have respective licence. Now if its internal wiring re and re you may walk with a handy men, If you are hooking up Kitchen sink re and re at same location or a dishwasher or renovating a washroom re and re you may escape with an Handy man approach, but for GAS you have to have a gas technician ONLY.

When anything upgraded it has to be with current code the handymen may or may not be aware of it and does as per his regular practice.

We are in Scarborough and service GTA. When clients select low price contractors they get all the surprises later and or done faulty.

Handymen are good but better to get done by Professional at a little extra cost but done right FIRST time.

Also find the contractor with legit office address is very important if anything happens where to find them?

Hope that helps.

A Budget Construction LTD.
