Please look at the pictures.

The left end of the horizontal wire is fixed to a gas furnace and the right end leads to a knob?

The horizontal wire is so unsightly.

What is the purpose of this wire and could I remove it?

Please help.

Thanks

Hello, if it is the copper piece with the whit tape it then it is a water line that feeds the humidifier. You cannot remove it if it is pressurized and this will require a patch in the water line where it is attached on need the hot water tank.

Agreed, looks like humidifier water line. If u dont want humidification in the house, you can shut water off n remove it, but i dont recommend that. Its just a bad install. Call a company and have them come in and they can re run it in plastic water line and clean it up. Thats what i would recommend, and of u dont wanna pay to have that done, then only other thing to do is not look at it lol

That is a humidifier and the wire you are referring to is a water line. The installer should of went vertically with the water line and hid it in the joists above to eliminate the eye sore.

It looks like the water supply line for your humidifier.

You can remove the line if you no longer use your humidifier.

Or you can re route the line to to make it look a little neater.

It's not a wire

It's a water line that feeds your humidifier

This is a pressurized water line which feeds the humidifier. To ge rid of the sore eye install, you have to shut the water valve off which is tapping the water line. Usually humidifiers come with own plastic tubing which most installers tie to the cold water line, but I guess this installer used copper tube o tie to the hot water line which is even better.
