I would like to install copper (or bronze) back splash.
I like to have a change of material because there are too many ceramic tiles in my house.
Please advise me if it is a good idea because of the likelihood of PATINA on the copper surface.
Is it more classy to install copper as opposed to glass/stone back splash?
Is it easy to clean the oily stains from a copper surface?
Most important question: where would I purchase the copper sheets for the back-splash? I live in the Greater Toronto area.
Thanks
There is a roofing company in north Scarborough that sells 3x8 sheets of copper. Contact me on Tuesday and I'll look them up for you.
Hi Martin,
Canadian Brass & Copper Co. in Concord Ont. should be able to help you out. They supplied me with some Copper splash back many years ago in Rosedale. The thing with Copper, it must be well sealed ( lacquer or polyurethane) at least 2 coats after it's installed then clear silicone on top and bottom (at cabinet and counter) I find this stuff much more Classy then Glass or Stone. Actually a combination of Copper & stone can be pretty classy as well if done correctly.
The Patina will change over time, more so in areas where the lacquer or silicone seal has been broken. HD sells plastic copper & silver ones for about 10% of what the real ones will cost you.
Good luck
