Cost for Drywall Installation

I can only find replies from 5-10 years ago, so I thought I would ask again. In Calgary area, how much on average the contractors would charge to install drywall in the basement? Materials plus labour, including delivery, installation, taping, mudding and sanding (no paint). Per square foot of drywall. Thank you.

The Average Costs to install in a 12x12 room is $ 680 to $ 950 The biggest factor that will inpact your total costs is wall size .Others are Type of Drywall used.

@Steopan - that rounds to about $1.5 to $2.0 per square foot. My contractor is charging me $4 per square foot. He came highly recommended, as a friend of a friend, and knowing very little about construction I trusted his reputation. Now I am a bit concerned. Not sure if I should dispute or accept.

The going rate in Toronto is roughly $1.50, larger jobs can be $1.25 to 1.35. If your contractor is charging you $4.00 that better include prime and 2 coats of paint

Wow, $1.5 is the same rate as 10-15 years ago from what I've seen. No inflation at all? Anyways, looks like I will have to have a talk with my contractor. They are just finishing sub flooring and studs for the walls. Will not start on the drywall until all inspections are done. Too bad it has to come down to this. I wish I did my research better.
