What is the approximate cost of revamping 60 years old bungalow (main floor 852 sq feet) and keep only one wall, rebuilding on same sq footage but go up one floor with bedrooms and 1 bathroom (for the second floor) -no fancy finishing but average/standard. Please include an estimate price for demolition, materials work, include permits drawings and the cost of closing/demolition of a concrete swimming pool in backyard. What time frame do I need to plan to rent an apartment?
Thank you!
Alma, i would suggest contacting a general contractor and going over your project with them. A job like this cannot even be remotely estimated without swing the site or plans. What I can tell you is excavators aren't cheap, budget a few thousand for tear down, another few thousand for the pool, $200(average) per sq ft for rebuild and probably a couple thousand in permits. That being said, it takes time to secure a contractor, get plans drafted and approved and then there's the actual time frame to do the work. I would say that if you started the process now now, you could tentatively be renting by next fall. Best of luck in your endeavour
