Hi there,
What would it cost to close off an existing exterior kitchen door, and have a nearby window turned into the doorway instead? The heights of the existing doorway and window are the same, although the window is wider. I have not yet moved into the house, and I don't have exact measurements. The exterior wall is stucco. The home was built in 1970.
As long as the window is wider than the door going in it should not be a problem. Pictures always help to be more accurate but it sounds pretty straightforward.
Stucco however is impossible to match perfectly as its faded by the sun. I would look at changing an area to a new exterior finish that would look complementary or larger flashing around the door but you will still have to deal with the hole left where the door was.
Hope this is helpful take some pictures if you can.
I didnt address cost because I am unsure of what the scope of work could be due to the stucco. I would assume anywhere from 2k-5k. Again hard to say without knowing what you're dealing with.
