We have a 18 X 25 foot backyard space in downtown Toronto that we want to cover with a deck. How much would a simple flat deck raised 16 inches off the ground cost to install?

Hi Damian

At DNA Contracting Ltd. we specialize in decks, we are from Vancouver BC prices might have a slight difference, for a flat deck with materials and labour you should not pay more then $28 per Sqft.

Hope this helps you!

The square footage that you have is 450 , you are looking at 25.00 a square foot that works out to 9,000 plus HST . Plus any permits that you may need if you are attaching to the house

A couple questions,

Pressure treated, Composite or cedar?

And is the deck tied to the house or freestanding?

As you can see, it varies. Most decks that I construct go by a labour cost of $6 - $15 per sq. ft. plus the cost of material. Yours sound pretty basic so I would estimate around $2500 - $3000. Price changes with the degree of difficulty, height, type of material (composite requires much more attention to detail), access to the locstion, and a few other factors. Gennerally look at the cost of materials and the labour would be two to three times that figure.

Hope this helps.

Hi Stephanie,

We'd be looking at either composite or cedar with one side tied to the house.
