I am looking to build a garage from scratch and wondering if someone could let me know possibly what each thing will cost. (pad, framing, shingling, siding, etc). As I could do some on my own.
Also, I'm looking to have a basement and deck done and would like to know how much that could possibly cost as well.
It's really hard to give you the kind of answer you are looking for with the info you are providing in your post !! It's like asking how much cost a car. What kind of car, what year, used or new...... ect.
It mostly depend on what you want and what is the budget to make it happen. Depending on the budget, a good contractor will guide you in the right direction to give you the maximum return on investment. Some compromised might have to happen on certain kind of material VS a better product. Example; You could spend more money on the deck by having composite board (Trex) and cutting on the garage siding by installing vinyl siding instead of james hardie siding.
Also if you want to save a little bit of money by doing some yourself, you should find a contractor that will let you work with him by giving you basic task under professional supervision. This way the contractor should give you discount on labor and by helping you achieve some work the right way, you avoid subsequent cost by avoiding mistake in labor.
Hope it would help you and make you find the right contractor for your project. Sometime going for cheap might cost you more at the end !
Nick,
The cost of a basic package from Home Depot or Rona (type of supplier) will provide the basics. After that you need to considet the location, the ground prep, the concrete, the interior (electrical, heating, possible plumbing, etc.) and the quality of the materials. Ball park figure ... $20,000 and up.
