Cost to convert Carport to a garage?

Its always cheaper to build with siding than it is with brick.

to build with brick you need to support this on something.

The right way to build a garage would be to dig down 4 feet to place a foundation then build the remaining garage walls on top of this.

This is required by building code and also requires permits and inspections by the city.

you can expect to pay between 50 and 65 dollars per sqft depending on how complicated , if its insulated with drywall, etc

Contact the city first! It might not cost you that much! In Fort Erie people do this all the time and they don't have to get permits. Other cities might ask for a fee! One thing is for sure is after the job is finished expect your taxes to go up. how much it's better to ask them. We are a garage door company and we have done lots of this kind of thing. Each city is different and have an idea of what you want! If your just putting in walls and siding and a new garage door it might cost you a few thousand dollars it depends how much work! Framing, labour, you know standard stuff. A good quality door it depends on the size.

Anne - I know this is an old post but just wondering if you ended up converting the car port. I am in the same situation, live in burlington, ON too, and am looking at the same time of bungalow houses with carports as you probably were. Anyway if you could let me know what you found out, if you went ahead with building a garage and how much it costs and also if you can recommend anyone who did the work. Thanks.
