I have a spot of water leaking in the basement. Approx how much is it to fix?
I was told, the best way to do it is from outside, not just inside. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
CK
Hi Chris,
Need way more info and some photos to get an informed answer. Stuff like new or older house, finished basement, visible source of water, and all of the other questions that have to be asked.
The repair could be as simple as fixing your grading or a leaking evestrough to a full dig down to the foundation and redoing the waterproofing and weepers. Depending on the type of leak and access, could also be epoxy injection or interior weepers.
So costs can be from hundreds to thousands.
The best way to deal with it would be to put it in the "post your project" area so you can get some local foundation contractors to come and have a look.
Good luck with it!

It would be hard for any contractor to give you an estimate without seeing the problem at hand. Number one rule of water leaks is to stop the leak where it starts (of course). We have been specialist in water leaks for many years and have come across this problem multiple times. We are sorry to inform you but basement leaks are never cheap to fix.....if done properly!
DO NOT SEAL FROM THE INSIDE!! It will only transfer the water to the next weakest area. We would choose the contractor who asks the most detailed questions. Also you should keep a log of weather conditions when this leak apears I.e every rain, down poor, freeze thaw. It is crucial that this problem is fixed A.s.a.p. to prevent further damage.
Yes, you will have to dig down to where the leak is and fix it properly.
