Hi All,
Any ideas re: costs associated with drywalling a basement ceiling?
It is 1400 sq. ft. and no need to include any bulkheads or any strapping. Just keep it simple: 1400 sq. ft. of total ceiling space to be hung, taped, sanded and primed.
Thanks.
One single 48x96 sheet of drywall covers - 32 sq ft
To cover 1400 sq ft you need - 44 sheets
At Home Depot, one sheet of 1/2" drywall costs - $14.65
44 sheets of drywall - $644.60
Box of screws - $29.99
One roll of drywall tape - $8.38
One gallon of drywall mud - $13.20
Primer, one gallon - $19.97
Subtotal - $716.14
Total with tax - $809.25
There are different options, as far as drywall goes.
You may want to go with longer drywall, say 4x12x1/2, which costs $14.45 for some reason.
That covers 48 sq ft per sheet, which translates into 30 sheets, drops the price significantly.
30 sheets of drywall - $433.5, that's - $489.86 with tax
Or you can go with 4x10x1/2, which costs $11.93 per sheet.
At 40 sq ft, you'll need 35 sheets.
35 sheets - $417.55, that's - $471.83 with tax
You may need more than one box of screws, and more than one roll of tape.
Hope that helps.
Sincerely,
Andre / iFix Contracting
Thanks. I should have been a tad more specific. lol
What about labor costs? The above calculations are easy but I would like to get an idea of what people charge for labor as well.
Hi Brett,
This job will cost you about $5500 materials and labor to be completed as described.
Thanks,
Mike
