Do privacy fence posts have to be below frost line? Minimum depth? Looking to build 6 foot and 8 foot high.
There is no Code requirement for fences except if you have a swimming pool but again no requirement regarding post depth (only height and non-climbable). However your municipal bylaws may not allow a fence to be any taller than 6' (1.8 m).
It's definitely smart to put your posts down at least 4' into the ground. This will be past the frost line here in Ontario and will prevent the posts from heaving or otherwise moving around. (Like you have probably seen many cheaply made fences do. )
You may want to check with local bylaws. For how high you are allowed to build. Many cities only allow a fence or privacy screen to only be 7' above grade.
