Hello,
I currently work for a basement reno company as a salesman. All I do is estimating and getting the contracts finalized, I do NOT do any of the actual construction. We have framing/drywall ppl, licensed electrician, plumber, plainter etc..
If I were to start this type of business myself and only do the sales/marketing/project management aspect of the business do I need any kind of license for this?
if u r a home owner in kingston you can do work with out inspection
If you are dealing with structure, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC, you need to be licensed.
You do not need any license to sell the mentioned services, however you need a license mostly for gas, electrical and plumbing if you are actually installing any of it. If you are sub-contracting it you don't need anything. Guys read the Laws right.
And of course if you are a home owner anywhere in Ontario you will need inspections but not licenses.
This kind of work falls under renovation, and you could get "Building Renovation Licence" to look "nice", but it is not required.
However, any work on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, gas, or structural changes require licenced person (subcontractor).
I am a plumbing contractor in Vancouver.
If you are planning to sub contract your plumbing & gas work you should make sure your plumber has a: plumbing/gas ticket, gas contractors license, and a business licence. It is important for someone to have these because the city will not issue you permits and you will not be able to call for inspections without them.
