We had a spray foam insulation company insulate our basement in july. There was nothing more than a verbal quote given. No contract, and no invoice given to us. We offered to pay the workers when they were done the job and were told the owner would contact us, which he never did. He showed up at our house over 3 months later requesting payment. Do we still have to pay him? There isn't any paper trail.
If the contractor is asking for the price he or she verbally gave you, of course you should pay. If the work was performed well, there is no justification not to pay.

This is a joke right?! You are clearly agreeing on paper right now that the work is complete!! Pay the man
Amy, Short answer is yes. If he/she (the company representative) is due the money, you must pay. If you don't and it goes to court, all they have to do is prove the work was done. Don't try to beat the system, pay what is due.
Yes you should definitely pay him. I still believe a handshake is your reputation even though in this day and time you need a contract. A verbal agreement is as good as a contract. He did your service and you should pay them 100%
Yes you have to pay, how ether you should be given proper invoice before you issue your payment. I'd also suggest avoiding paying cash, so you have proof of payment. But again, work was done, payment is due.
I cannot believe I am reading this...
There is no statute of limitations on paying for a service. Contractors get incredibly busy and the odd time invoicing may slip through the cracks. You didn't 'get away with one'. Pay the man
Anna, you are the kind of client I am always trying to avoid. Wear a sign, so we can all see you coming!
