When building a house does vapour barrier go everywhere behind the drywall or just in the basement and bathrooms?
Vapor barrier goes everywhere between the cold and warm. So all exterior walls and ceilings.
Everywhere. Over the insulation but behind the drywall. And ... over the ceiling. Think of it as putting a balloon between the outside and inside of the house. Must be to code.
Vapor barrier goes on all insides of exterior walls prior to drywall. As well as the interior side of all attic ceiling areas.
Basically on the warm side of any surface in the house. The only exception is in a cold room. Then you insulate the warm side of the basement walls, And I suggest installing an exterior grade door in this entry.
