Drywall over rigid foam

I have a house, 1930ish with wooden slat walls under drywall type material. The previous homeowner put wood panelling over everything. I would like to put 1 inch rigid foam with drywall overtop. Is the rigid foam ok to use without a vapour barrier? Budget is tight hence this route over removing everything to studs and rebuilding.

Hi,

Actually if you spray foam, this will act as a vapour barrier itself with the condition that you dont leave any air leak.
