We are closing off a 4'x8' door way between two commercial office spaces as we have sold two of our three units. It is an inside wall. Do we have to use 5/8 dry wall or is 1/2 okay? Is there some building code that mandates this?

Hi Joanne,

You need to find out if the rest of wall is 5/8 or 1/2 inch to match up.

I just want to know if it is code that we have to use 5/8th in that small space?

Hi,

Code between two commercial area's is 5/8" fire rated drywall. Not simply 5/8".

Hope this helps.
