I want to build a new full bathroom in my basement. My electrical panel is on a wall that is part of my planed bathroom area. Is it allowed to be in a bathroom or not?
No you will not be allowed to leave a electrical panel in a bathroom.
No, I believe that is against code.
I would have to agree that it is against code. Bathrooms can contain allot of moisture and mist with running water (baths and showers). I am sure the electrical panel would be affected by this build up over time and possibly rust, blow fuses or short circuit.
Every area is governed by different rules and regulations and it is best to check local and regional guidelines before attempting any major do it yourself project. I would suggest contacting a licensed professional in your area to review your renovation plans and advise on building codes and permit requirements.
Rule #6-206(c) states not in bathrooms, stairways , coil bins, and so on
