Hello I am obtaining my master electrical license in Ontario and was wondering what the requirements are to start your own company in Nova Scotia? In Ontario you need a master license and everything must get inspected By an authority called ESA if anyone knows the exact requirements could you please let me know since I am having a very hard time finding the requirements out. Thanks in advance!!

Opening a business in a trade is pretty much the same across Canada. You just google "being a contractor" in Nova Scotia or contact their trades union for electricians
-you cannot open a electrical company without "a ticket"
-you cannot pull permits without a "master" ticket, yuor clients can pull them though
-you need a business formed and a permanent business address, "either sole proprietor/home based or corporation, sole is easiest
-now you need WCB, liability insurance and maybe a bond
-then you need a business lic. for the place you decide to conduct business
*Pretty simple but costs alot and the process can take a month or more...benefit is your sweat and work gets paid to you now not some other guy. But expect more stress and lots of hassles, self-employment is not for the everyone .
There are quite a few Nova Scotians on Electrician Talk, they will be more then happy to assist.
Cheers
