Exposed Wood & Holes by Garage Door

I recently discovered some exposed wood and a small hole to the side of the garage door. There also appears to be a hole underneath the garage border/frame (not sure what it's called). Can anyone recommend solutions on how to fix this? Does it require parging? Or is there another solution?

The image with the numbers is to help describe the issue. The #1 section appears normal. #2 is the exposed wood. #3 is where a potential hole is; maybe this is where the ants are nesting?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like someone had something running through there at one time, its not a structural issue..just fill it up with concrete or mortar patch kit from homedepot, as holes into your garage is a invitation for mice to set up housekeeping :)
