Hi,
We are looking to build an extension to our existing bungalow in East York. There are currently 2 bedrooms in the back, and we'd like to extend it out approximately 12 feet outwards and 25 feet width (approx 300 sq feet in total).
How much would an extension cost for just this only on the main floor. Also, how much would it cost if we also dug out the basement for that same area with the extension?
Thanks,
John
Hi John.
Many factors contribute to the cost of a project so it is difficult to project numbers that easily but I would say the starting point for an addition of that size would be $200/sf. Rear yard projects are a challenge from the get go. They are generally tight sites making material handling cumbersome and expensive. Leave yourself a generous budget and good luck with your project.
Giulian.
Cost to build a home addition vary from $250 per square foot on the cheapest end to $450 / sq. ft. or even more for custom top notch work. Accurate estimated can be provided only after analyzing architectural drawings with all technical details, calculating number of man-hours for completing the project and determining the total expenses for materials, fixtures and finishing products.
Hi John,
How did you make out with your project?
What was the cost per square foot and your final costs? Any surprises along the way?
Thanks
Tom
