Hi there,

My question is what kind of material is best to use when installing facsia boards that will be capped?

As a min 2x6 as it provides a straight and stable base for finishing. Howerver,Fascia boards made of timber are susceptible to water damage. Wood needs to be replaced routinely because it often becomes weakened by the weather. These can also begin to rot, and this rot can easily spread to adjoining gables. As an alternative you may wish to consider PVC fascia boards. PVC is a plastic material that is extremely hard wearing and does not share the same tendency to rot..
