I am wondering if fiber-cement siding is commonly used in southern Ontario ? If so,what are the known problems with it and are there health concerns with asbestos ?
Thks for your input.

We install a lot of fiber cement based products. Some products contain silica and in an intact state, these products do not pose a silica risk. However, when cut, drilled, etc installation it is important to use a properly-fitted NIOSH approved respirators as well as best practices to limit silica dust exposures.

AJ,
I'm told that the fine print on the warranty states you must paint the fiber board every five years to maintain the warranty. Hardly makes it " Maintenance Free". I usually reccomend stucco, as it can be mixed with stone, tile or wood, be any color, and add good R value to your homes total insulation, reducing energy costs. This results in a higher market value for your home, which cannot be said for fiber board siding.
Best,
Andrew
