Fire Blocking in Basement

I am finishing my basement. I have blown foam insulation on the foundation and the stud framing. For the horizontal and vertical fire block I usually use 1/2" drywall but I am wondering if you can use Rockwool SAFE'n'SOUND Insulation for the fire block. Would make life much easier for sure.

You have to use fire rated drywall where code requires. Any other location on exterior basement walls I use green board.

No; you need to use drywall. Even if mineral wool is a good sound barrier and its not flammable, code doesnt allow it to be used as fire block or fire seperation.

Your question is not entirely clear. Foamed plastic insulation is required to be protected where exposed; also rim joists require protection over foamed plastic insulation if the joist space acts as a return air plenum.

The Code lists a number of materials acceptable for fire blocks and also to cover foamed plastic insulation however Roxul insulation is not listed for either use; most commonly 1/2" regular drywall is used to protect foamed plastic insulation.

Without knowing more specifics of your question best thing is to confirm with your local municipality.
