We recently purchased a new build home. Upon moving in we discovered a small leak in the basement which has since been patched. The guy did a really good job, nice and neat, no more leak.
We also noticed that on the exterior of the house the dimple barrier had been ripped away in one spot at the sight of the leak (at least the width of the basement window, maybe larger, not sure how far down).
The contractor said everything was fine and that all they were really required to do was tar the foundation. However, I took a few photos and it doesn't even look like that was done (in that spot - elsewhere it looked fine). My questions are: is it possible that they purposely removed the dimple barrier in that spot and put it lower? If not, is this something to be concerned about? I'm assuming the worst that could happen would be that a leak could occur more easily in that spot.
Is it worth having them dig up the sod in that spot? So far they seem unwilling.
The second photo was taken after the ground was leveled off.
Thanks!
