I am installing a paver patio on the inside corner of the house.
My question is, do I need to grade away from the house on both sides, or can I just grade down one side?
I have attached a very rough sketch of what I mean.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Either way works, whatever you prefer. It may be beneficial in removing water from the site if there is a swale beside the home and you're directing water towards that swale.
The Code simply requires that grades slope away from a building. In Edmonton it's a requirement to contain runoff water on your property and direct it to the City property at the front and/or rear as the case may be.
It's also a Code requirement for foundations to project a minimum of 6" above grade and for exterior dampproofing to extend to (and terminate at) grade level.
Thanks Ian, looked everywhere online for this scenario but couldn't find anything. Appreciate it!
