Hanging Drywall on a long and narrow ceiling

Which direction do I hang drywall on a ceiling that is 14' x 27'. Im using 8' foot sheets due to limitations to get longer sheets in the basement. I believe I hang perpendicular to the strapping leaving no long manufactured seems and staggered butt joints (1 or 2 per course). Could someone confirm?
