Beaten down walkway (took off old pavers) & driveway area. What to put down?
Two areas:
1. L SHAPE AREA (PATH 1 & 2) - 6" depth - a slight grade exists so drainage should be sufficient. Do I use:
a. limestone screening OR crushed gravel + sand
b. then sheeting (fabric) - weed barrier
c. top layer to be smooth river rock (1-3" ? should be ok to walk on & STAY IN PLACE)
2. DRIVEWAY AREA - 4-6" depth - fairly good grade exists. I suspect if the stone is too small it will slip down in time and I want to avoid extra work in the future raking it back into place. What to put down that will stay in place?
These are beaten down areas, with significant gravel beneath them in the soil because the house was built by an awesome contractor who put drainage/basement dryness as a priority.
