A repairman for my new washing machine said that the waste water is not flowing freely
on the drainpipe for the washing machine. Hence the water had spilled onto the floor.
I cannot afford to hire a plumber.
How do I clear a blockage?
I have enclosed 2 pictures, please look at the one which had a VERTICAL black pipe. That is where the hose fits onto the drainpipe.
Is there something e.g. a pour in liquid that I could buy to clear a blockage?
I do not have a special snake to insert it into the drainpipe.
Thanks
Two things you can try:
1. Take a vacuum similar to one on the pic attached and try to pull something that is stuck in the washer and the drain pipe.
2. Pour a drain clog liquid. Read the instructions on it.
NOTE: Dishwasher has a protection feature. It supposed to stop if the drain is clogged. Maybe the problem somewhere else...
If you have access to an eel you can try to go down the pipe to unclog it. I would suggest taking the Trap all you need to do is unscrew both ends from the look of the picture you should be able to do this relatively easy and then fish up and down from that point to see if you can get whatever is clogging your pipe. Sometimes plumbers glue these traps but they should be hand tightened coupling on either side of the Trap. If you have no luck with this procedures I suggest you contact a trusted Pro plumber in your local area
OK,
so I am not a plumber, but do enough of it ;). That is NOT a removable trap (contrary to earlier post advice), so it cannot be removed for access, however, you can remove the sink downpipe to access the trap from there. Just shut off/isolate both hot and cold water, disconnect at fixture, disconnected at knurled joint (on the steep pipe under sink) and you are on it.
Using the shop vac will only work if you can block all other entries to the drain.
Also, that drain pipe for the washer outlet is not to code. too short. It is supposed to be 4 feet of drop minimum to eliminate back-splash.
Once you have access under the sink, you can dig around in the P-trap easily.
Hoep you get it handled.
To everyone who is trying to help me.
Please note that it is a CLOTHES WASHING MACHINE (not a dishwasher). Thanks
It's very good that you decided to deal with these pipes, because once I didn't look there all year and then there was a flood in my house, but then they helped me water damage restoration in Arlington. I am very grateful to these guys
