We are looking at purchasing a home that currently only has electric baseboard heating. But we we would like to install a high efficiency furnace with central air. There is no basement but there is a second floor.
I've got a good idea of what the furnace itself would cost but would roughly what am I looking at to cut in all the piping and furnace installation?
I am in the trades so I can remove and replace any drywall and any other things that need to be repaired or removed.
You can upgrade to forced air. How ever if there is no basment, the duct work wold be done ar first floor or in the attic if it is one story house. If it runs at first floor, you would end up with bolkhead wich some people done like it. If it can go to attic then it would need to be insulated properly. First you would need HVAC mechanical drawing so the duct sizing are calculated for proper air flow. The drawing will also specify Input and CFM of the Furnace. Once you are satisfied with drawing, we can estimat installation and start the work.
Hi there Dennis,
To install an Ac abd furnace and do a rough in and installation of all the ducting and pipes you would be looking at anywhere from $9000-15000 depending on the size and quality of equipment you select.

A couple of questions just before I try and give you a price. What is the square footage of the home? Is there gas available to hook the furnace to or does it need to be run from a meter or something along those lines. Those are going to be two key things that will affect the price the most.
