I got a concrete slab poured for a garage with an 8 curb. There is quite a bit of honey combing on the exterior of the slab. Is this normal?
Small air bubbles at the surface would be normal and more common the drier the concrete is. If you chip some concrete away you will know whether it is real
Honey combing or not. If it is it will usually break off quite easily and you will have to break away the weak concrete until you reach sound concrete. Form and repair the concrete removed.
Nope it's bad
Who ever poured it shit the bed
Get it filled in it will not out
If you have honeycombing that means your concrete contractor did a really bad job!
Hi Jake,
Honeycombing is caused by a few common factors which include lack of integrity at the forms when being poured, or improper water to cement ratio.
This is normal but reduces strength and life of the concrete. Honeycombing is a result of lack of tapping the forms when pouring the concrete. It is imperative to tap ALL forms until the concrete settles right against the form so that maximum forming can occur.
This pad we poured, we made sure ALL sides where tapped so that the concrete can settle at maximum against the forms.
Yes it is. Parge it and the problem will be solved.
