I am having difficulty figuring out how to cut molding at certain angles using my mitre saw. The attached photo shows the type of project I'm working on, as well as the types of angles I need(highlighted In Yellow) Thanks in advance for any help.
Do you have a sliding bevel? If so work out your angle from that, then divide by 2. That should give you the angle of cut for both halves.
Sorry, if you need to work out the angle of your stairs to set your line. Take a long level or straight piece of lumber and it againist the nosings of your stair treads. Then take your sliding bevel and use it to set the angle between the tread/floor and straight edge. Take this angle and mark it on your chop saw. Then set your saw to the mark. This will give you your angle from horizontal. Vertical will be the opposite. 90deg minus horizontal angle. Hope this helps
Sliding bevel / miter guage will be your saviour!
Use a level vertically for reference.
Best of luck.
