How do I get into designing and building homes?

I am in my early 20s with little experience in this industry. I have plans in my head to design and build homes. I own a successful roofing company and make enough money to get a sizeable loan to start building. I am looking to find out the schooling/certification I need to design homes. basically I want to design the house and find contractors to lay foundation, then my crew and I, can do almost everything else. (there is lots of electricians, plumbers, and h-vac guys in my family and close group of friends)

I would strongly advise you to learn the game and further educate yourself to the building process. Mistakes are expensive and easily missed.
