Hi. I just had a new Vesta 30 range fan installed. Problem is it doesn't seem as though it is sucking up anything. It seems to be blowing back down and out instead. Not at all like the demo in the store. Store I bought from said to check if the flapper is open. I got my installer to take a look and he said he can't see anything that can be opened or closed. I'm about to go to battle with the store to get them to take a look but how can I tell if this is a manufacturer issue with the unit or that the installer didn't install properly. The installer had to replace the old 4 piping with 6 piping. I just want this all to be over. Thanks for any advice.
Hi Roop, the fan is probably in the recirculate position which may be the default set up for this unit. The fan might have to be rotated 90 to the vent position. There should definitely be a flapper where the unit attaches to the ductwork. You should check the instructions for the different mounting options and then disassemble as needed to verify and correct.
If the fan is actually moving air then your situation is an installation problem.
Should be a fairly easy fix.
Good luck with it!

Installation was done wrong if its blowing in instead of sucking out!!!
Hi Roop. Have you checked to make sure the motor is in the position for vented installation and not non-vented? I have a few calls where the installation was done for vented through the roof or wall installation, but the motor was in the non-vented position. Which means that the air flow will be through the filter and back inside the house. I was in Bradford yesterday to address such an issue. The house was very humid, even though the vent was being run for hours. I had to change the position of the motor. You have to remove the range hood to do this. Check your installation instructions.
Also, check to make sure nothing is blocking the vent to outside. Birds love to build nests in there if they can.
Hope this helps.
