How do you determine the surface area (square footage) of exposed foundation (above the ground) from a building or site plan?

Not quite sure what you want. The floor area will ne length times width giving you total square forage. if it's just the foundation walls, measure the width of the wall times the length of each wall section.

It'll show foundation over grade usually 4ft multiply 4x length of foundation all around to get square footage I presume for parging.
